A fruit acid peel carefully removes the top cell layer (corneal layer) and stimulates the regeneration and production of the skin’s cells. Acids like tartaric acid, mandelic acid, malic acid and glycolic acid are mainly found in fruit. They are non-toxic and bio-degradable. The glycolic acid alpha hydroxyl acid, or AHA, is mainly used for fruit acid peels in medical cosmetics. It is a mild, organic salicylic acid and is a natural ingredient of sugar cane juice.

After treatment, our beauticians apply the fruit acid in gel form to the skin. After it penetrates, the fruit acid is neutralized by a special cream. This method does not involve any recovery time. After treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to light so you should avoid sunbathing or going to the solarium for around one week. You should also apply sun protection factor cream (at least SPF 30) prior to exposure to the sun for the following five weeks. To achieve the best results possible, we recommend a fruit acid spa treatment with three to five sessions.

Fruit acids are able to remove the upper cell layer (horny layer) in a controlled manner and stimulate the skin cells to regenerate and reform, revealing smooth, refined looking skin.

The method is primarily suited for patients with pigmentation disorders, age spots, sun damage, acne or acne scars. But even small wrinkles, a dull, pale complexion or dry, flaky and rough skin can be successfully treated with a fruit acid peel.

After cleansing, the fruit acid is applied to the skin in gel form. It is left to take effect for a short time, which varies according to the desired intensity. The fruit acid is then neutralised using a special cream.

One treatment lasts about 45 minutes. We usually recommend a course of three to five treatments for the best results.

A fruit acid peel does not require a recovery period. Slight reddening, a feeling of tightness and, depending on the acid concentration used, visible peeling of the skin may occur after the treatment.

After the treatment, the skin is more sensitive to light, so sunbathing and the solarium should be avoided for about a week. It is also advisable to apply a sun protection factor (at least SPF 30) for the next five weeks before exposure to the sun.

The first positive effects can already be seen after the first treatment. The skin is fine pored, smooth and even. In addition to a significant improvement in the skin’s appearance, this gentle method is also rejuvenating. The best results can also be achieved with blemishes.

Redness may occur for a few hours after the treatment but will fade again quickly. Used in the case of inflammatory acne, it can temporarily lead to an apparent deterioration in the skin’s appearance. If a remarkably high acid concentration is used or the exposure time is prolonged, burns will occur at worst. In addition to scars, this can also result in pigmentation disorders.


We advise against a fruit acid peel in the case of skin diseases such as neurodermatitis or psoriasis. Rosacea, on the other hand, has recently been designated as an indication, as it can be treated very well with the help of mild fruit acid formulations.

Fruit acids can be combined well with treatment methods using devices. Low concentrations are best used before microneedling, for example. This can enhance the skin refining effect of needling and support the reduction of pigmentation spots.

Only a mild burning or heat sensation, comparable to slight sunburn, may occur during treatment.

Compared to fruit acid products for personal use, a dermatologist can use much higher concentrated fruit acid for treatment. The effect is therefore also more intensive and above all permanent.

The skin is slowly accustomed to the acidity during the two-week preparation phase using a fruit acid cream. This can significantly reduce the probability of severe irritation, swelling or irritation, especially before peels with a very high concentration.
