Cellulite is a typical female phenomenon, estimated to affect more than 85 percent of women over the age of 20. In the meantime there are numerous treatment methods that are more or less successful, but sometimes provide no proven long-term success. In the battle against these annoying dimples, the HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER in Munich is one of the first practices in Germany to expand its broad portfolio with the innovative CELLFINA® process. The minimally invasive treatment improves skin elasticity and combats cellulite of severity levels 3 and 4 on the thighs and buttocks for at least two years, for the first time in just one session.

CELLFINA® is the only approved anti-cellulite treatment that has been proven effective in clinical trials over a two-year or longer period. In addition, the treatment has been EU-CE certified and even tested and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is considered to be particularly critical.
The aim of the CELLFINA® treatment is to dissolve the fine connective tissue fibres that are responsible for the dimples typical of cellulite and therefore to smooth the skin’s appearance for a long time. The modern minimally invasive procedure is performed using an outpatient treatment technique and under local anaesthesia.
The reason for the so-called orange peel skin is the special arrangement of the connective tissue fibres, which are located in the fatty tissue under the skin and are parallel to each other in women. If fat cells force themselves between the fibres, they become visible on the skin’s surface. The result is the typical dimply pattern. Cellulite primarily appears on the thighs and buttocks. Being overweight or weak connective tissue can lead to cellulite developing. Incidentally, men hardly have this problem at all. Their connective tissue is like a net and therefore much more stable.
It is particularly difficult to adequately conceal the areas affected by cellulite in the summer as it is difficult to hide them in short trousers and skirts. Many women therefore avoid wearing lighter clothing out of shame. It is not uncommon for these women to massively suffer from low self-esteem. The resulting social restrictions through to the development of mild depression are common side effects. In these kinds of cases, treatment with CELLFINA® makes sense, as it is proven to make a definite improvement and can therefore bring about a whole new attitude to life. The method is suitable for any adult with cellulite. However, their state of health will be examined and evaluated by the attending doctor in a consultation beforehand.
CELLFINA® works on the so-called subcision principle. This minimally invasive out-patient treatment releases the tight connective tissue fibrous bands, also called septa, under local anaesthetic. These fibrous bands pull down the skin and, together with the fat cells, they create the puckering you see on the surface of the skin that is typical of cellulite. After marking the area to be treated, the circular handpiece sucks on the tissue by means of a vacuum, while a roughly six-millimetre long lancet-shaped blade is moved back and forth under the skin with jarring motions. The process is then repeated at the next marked point. The result: similar to a rubber band under tension, once released, the treated skin bounces back quickly to smooth itself out even after just one treatment. Blood vessels and nerves remain completely unharmed.
A session takes about 60 minutes, this varies depending on the size of the treatment area. During this time, the handpiece can treat up to 25 circular areas of skin. A visible result is expected after just three days and usually lasts up to two years. The treatment is not associated with any longer periods of time off. There may be some slight bruising after treatment but this will disappear completely after a few days.
The appearance of cellulite can be significantly improved after just one session. A visible result is expected after just three days. A significant improvement is finally achieved after about ten months and this lasts for two years or more.
Nothing particular has to be considered beforehand. However, after the treatment, you should refrain from sport and intensive physical activity for the first 24 hours.
There may be some swelling and bruising after the session. Most patients (82%) also feel low levels of pain at the puncture sites when direct contact or pressure is applied. The symptoms are classified as minimal though after just three days.
In general, patients can return to their normal activities immediately after the CELLFINA® procedure, but if you have a physically demanding job, it is advisable to schedule at least one day off.
The HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER in Munich performs the CELLFINA® procedure on the thighs and buttocks; the areas on the body most commonly affected by cellulite.
Since this is a purely aesthetic medical treatment, the costs cannot unfortunately be billed to the health insurance company.
A pivotal clinical study documented the quickly visible and long-lasting results of the treatment. 85% of the women treated were satisfied with the result of one session after three months, 93% still even after a total of three years. CELLFINA® therefore has a very high success rate with long lasting results.
Especially for a firmer skin and an even better result, the body contouring experts at the HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER in Munich specifically combine the CELLFINA® method with the PDO thread treatment for firmer skin and an even better result. The degradable threads used for the Korean V-Lift form a kind of supporting corset underneath the skin, which additionally tightens the skin.
