The most popular method of removing expression lines, non-expression lines like nasolabial folds and deep scars are filler injections. Fillers are divided into degradable and permanent substances. It is extremely important that these substances are compatible and do not cause any allergic reactions. They should also achieve long-term and reproducible results and remain at the point where they are injected. The substance should also be biocompatible, which means that the body does not recognize it as foreign matter.
This category includes filling substances such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite. Depending on the substance, depth of wrinkles and injection volume, the desired effect can last between around six to 24 months after treatment.
A particular feature of hyaluronic acid is that it is a natural part of our connective tissue, the production of which declines with age. When applied in aesthetic dermatology, the substance is produced in the laboratory in purified form and is identical to the body’s own hyaluronic acid – which virtually eliminates the risk of allergic reactions in patients. Depending on the size and intensity of the chain of individual hyaluronic acid molecules, materials of higher density for pronounced lines and low density for smaller wrinkles are applied.
Calcium hydroxylapatite is particularly suitable for injecting into medium and deep creases. The calcium hydroxylapatite structure injected under the skin stimulates production of the body’s own connective tissue substance. While the connective tissue is regenerated and newly formed, the structure is slowly degraded for particularly long-lasting results.
This particular type of filler cannot be degraded by our organism’s metabolism. Given the potential side effects such as allergies and the formation of granulomas (lumps), we only use permanent filling substances at HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER if degradable materials are unable to provide the desired outcome and all risks of incompatibility have been ruled out. These materials should only be used by highly experienced doctors.
We at HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER have been experts in injections with degradable and permanent fillers for more than 20 years. In order to limit potential risks and side effects as much as possible, we only use certified and original products.
