BOTOX TO PREVENT SWEATING
Sweating performs an important function for the human organism: Sweat cools the skin and protects the body from overheating. However, many people sweat excessively, even without exposure to significant heat or stressful situations. This condition is medically known as hyperhidrosis and can be a major physical and psychological issue for those affected. The phenomenon particularly affects the palms, soles of the feet, armpits and genital area. Botulinum toxin injections can be an effective treatment for this condition.
The botulinum toxin is introduced to the skin by a number of injections, which are administered very close together. Injections in the armpits do not require a local anaesthetic. Treatment of the hands and feet is relatively painful, so the use of anaesthetic is unavoidable. Excessive sweat production in the affected areas will stop two to seven days after treatment. For a lasting result, the treatment should be repeated every six to twelve months.
The experts at the HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER have been working with botulinum toxin for more than 20 years, primarily for the treatment of wrinkles caused by facial expressions. Find out more here.
