Cryolipolysis

Treating fat cells without a surgery

Cryolipolysis

Unlike invasive surgical procedures, cryolipolysis and the Coolsculpting procedure from Allergan manages completely without any surgery and general anaesthesia. Cryolipolysis is based on the assumption that subcutaneous fatty tissue is damaged by targeted cooling, leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. This innovative method is based on a highly developed, patented cooling technology, where the treated areas are cooled down in a controlled manner using special applicators to kill off the fat cells. The damaged fat cells should be broken down, excreted and therefore reduced in the weeks and months following treatment. How long it takes exactly until the treatment results are visible differs for each individual and can be influenced by various factors, i.e. sports activities, nutrition, etc.

The Coolsculpting system’s different applicators are designed so that their shape allows them to adapt to the most diverse standard problem areas in a targeted and very personal way. These problem areas include saddlebags and love handles, the tyre around your middle or back fat. Even small accumulations of fat in the armpit fold and on the knees and a double chin can be treated with this technology.

Informations about the Cryolipolysis

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has certified the Coolsculpting process. FDA approval is further confirmation of the effectiveness of this revolutionary treatment, which is also approved in Canada and the European Community (+ CE).
The effectiveness of cryolipolysis treatment with Coolsculpting was highlighted in a study at the 2015 ISDS Congress in Cartagena. Only the original Coolsculpting device causes such a strong reaction in the treated area, which then leads to significant remodelling in the fatty tissue and thus to the desired contouring effect. This effect often fails to materialise with the other cryolipolysis devices available on the market. At the HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER, we work with the certified and patented Coolsculpting devices from the USA.

Unlike previous surgical procedures for body contouring, we have already been able to treat numerous patients without any incisions, needles and anaesthesia at all thanks to cryolipolysis using the Coolsculpting procedure. To improve the effect of the procedure even more, we have recently started using a combination of cryolipolysis and a lipodissolve injection at the HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER called Advanced Cryolipolysis. We can enhance the effect even more using the lipodissolve injection. One session is often sufficient – without any recovery time. The initial results can already be seen after around two to four months.
Since a well-adjusted metabolism plays an important role in the success of cryolipolysis, we recommend an appointment with one of our nutritionists before treatment.

The non-invasive cryolipolysis procedure uses a patented cooling technology to cool down small fat deposits and treat them effectively. However, this method is not a general miracle cure. The results can vary individually. However, good results can be achieved, especially in men and women’s typical problem areas.

The procedure is more suitable for slim men and women who suffer from small to moderate accumulations of fat in individual problem areas. The method is therefore not suitable for weight loss, especially not in heavily overweight or underweight patients. The problem areas include saddlebags and love handles, the tyre around your middle or back fat. Even small accumulations of fat in the armpit fold and on the knees and a double chin can be treated with this technology.

The Coolsculpting system’s different applicators are designed so that their shape allows them to adapt to the most diverse standard problem areas in a targeted and very personal way. After selecting the appropriate applicator size, the treated area is cooled down. A special fleece is placed on the skin beforehand to protect that part of the body from freezing. Anaesthesia or painkillers are not necessary.

One application per treated area takes about 45 to 60 minutes. One session is generally enough.

You can immediately resume your normal activities like work or exercise after the session. The treated areas may remain red for a few hours. There may also be bruising that will subside again afterwards.

Your usual daily routine can be resumed after the treatment. Even sporting activities can be carried out without any problems. Nevertheless, we advise our patients to take it easy for one or two days.

Important: At the HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER, we work with the certified and patented Coolsculpting devices from the USA, which have both the CE label and FDA approval. The device also includes the patented Freeze DetectTM sensor, which ensures that treatment is interrupted immediately if there is a threat of freezing.

Cryolipolysis is a very safe procedure. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States has even certified the Coolsculpting method. FDA approval is further confirmation of the effectiveness of this revolutionary treatment, which is also approved in Canada and the European Community (+ CE).

FAQ

Yes, the treated fat cells are destroyed and permanently broken down by the body. However, this does not mean that new fat cells cannot be formed. Since a well-adjusted metabolism plays an important part in the success of cryolipolysis, we recommend an appointment with one of our nutritionists before treatment.

Yes. To improve the result, we have recently started using a combination of cryolipolysis and a lipodissolve injection at the HAUT- UND LASERZENTRUM AN DER OPER called Advanced Cryolipolysis. No. Cryolipolysis has been specially developed for localised fat deposits. Patients with larger amounts of fat that cover the entire body are initially advised to change their diet or in individual cases undergo liposuction.

The plate-shaped applicator is placed on the part of the body being treated, then the handpiece sucks the underlying fatty tissue through the vacuum created and gently cools it down. Cooling remains constant during the entire treatment. During this time, you can read, drink, browse online or just relax.

No. As a rule, cryolipolysis is not perceived as painful. In the first few minutes most of our patients only feel a slight pulling and an unpleasant feeling of cold, but this quickly subsides.

Anyone suffering from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin diseases or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria should refrain from cryolipolysis. The method is also not intended to treat obesity (see above “Is cryolipolysis also suitable for large amounts of body fat?)

The cryolipolysis procedure targets persistent, moderate fat deposits that form, for example, under the chin, on the inner thighs, the abdomen, the flank or the back. But fat accumulations in the armpit area as well as below the gluteal fold can also be reached very well using the system’s different applicators.

A double chin can also be successfully reduced thanks to the special cryolipolysis attachment, which adapts precisely to the small fat deposits under the chin.

A single treatment is sufficient to achieve a satisfactory result. Another appointment should be scheduled with us at our practice to check and document this.
